Giving Greatly

Today’s application is drawn from Leviticus 1-4.

“‘Every grain offering for the priest shall be wholly burned. It shall not be eaten.’” – Leviticus 6:23

Some of the sacrifices offered to God were eaten by the priests and some were eaten by the people. But this sacrifice was not to be eaten by anyone. It was set aside to benefit only the Lord, as a sweet smelling sacrifice.

When we give our talents, time and resources to God it’s OK to get something in return. It feels good when God uses our talents to bless people and it also feels good to have comfy chairs to sit on as a result of our tithe, but every gift to God should not give us something back. Sometimes our gifts should be for God alone to enjoy.

Are you giving anything to God that is only for Him?
