Today’s application is drawn from Leviticus 8-10.
“Then Moses said, ‘This is the thing which the Lord commanded you to do, and the glory of the Lord will appear to you.’” – Leviticus 9:6

In order to serve God in the tabernacle, Aaron and his sons had to sprinkle blood on their ear, finger and toe. God promised to appear to them once they were covered by the blood of the sacrifice from head to toe.

God makes the same promise to us⎯to become personal to us when we’re covered completely by the sacrifice of His son Jesus. God’s not merely an observer, peering down at as distance as if we’re rats in a cardboard box. His love is close. Proximity with God is part of the blessing of trusting Jesus.

Lord, thank you loving me so much that you gave everything you had in order to be close to me. Help me to not show contempt for your sacrifice

Why does it matter that God is close and not distant?
What are ways that have helped you feel God’s closeness?
What would you tell someone who doesn’t feel close to God?

RT @jblaney: We're not rats in a box. Any Levitican scholar will tell you that: http://bit.ly/9IgVII #tc
LOVE the layout. And these reflections. Adding this to my blogroll. Great work here.
Thanks! Loved your blog too.
Hello, thank you very much for this post, cheers
I am mostly NOT a person that can sit down and focus long enough to study a book, now of course I can read my bible w/ no problem…unless I attempt taking it in the bed and we all know that’s NOT a good idea! But when I stumbled upon this book at my local Barnes & Noble store, I simply HAD to have it.
