This vapor doesn’t look like much, but get it in a tight spot and find out how fast it puts the smackdown on Hulk Hogen.

Today’s application is drawn from Exodus 39-40.
“And Moses was not able to enter the tabernacle of meeting, because the cloud rested above it, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.” – Exodus 40:35

After the tabernacle was completed the Lord came in the form of a cloud and resided on the tabernacle. When the cloud was on the tabernacle it filled it so fully that none could enter, not even Moses.

Back when Moses roamed the earth, God’s home was the tabernacle. But after Jesus died on the cross, God moved out of the tabernacle and into you and me. We are God’s home, his crib, his base of operations for earthly ministry. He lives in us.
Now I’ve been described as being full of many things. Full of dinner. Full of energy. Full of crap. (Kind of a disgusting phrase when you think of it literally, huh?) But full of God? Not so much.
You see, God is described as a cloud that filled the tabernacle, like a fog machine at a Switchfoot concert or the vapors in a pot of boiling water. But it’s possible to have some of God in us and still have room for all kinds of other neat things, like pride, obsession to money, and an entire room filled with carved monkey idols.
We may want to have more of God in us, but the fog gives way to whatever else we bring into our heart. God, just like fog, cannot push anything out of our heart. He can only fill the space we empty for Him.
Wouldn’t it be great if we could be so filled with God that there wasn’t any room left for all those carved monkey idols? But wait! There is a way. Remember how the tabernacle was so filled with God that no one could even squeeze in the front door. How is that possible? Time for a chemistry lesson.
Everything in the universe is made up of atoms; from clouds to water to ice. The difference between hard things like ice, liquid things like water and wispy things like clouds is how tightly the atoms are packed that make them up. You can turn clouds into water by making their atoms more tightly packed. Wow, rain! Then if you make the atoms even more tightly packed: Voila, ice!
Pay attention, because chemistry is about to transform before your eyes into pithy application. In order to have so much of God inside us so that there’s no room for anything else all we have to do is keep packing Him in. The more we pack God into our heart, the more tightly compressed He becomes and the more room we have to pack more of Him in.
Here’s the really cool part. You remember those wimpy clouds that couldn’t beat up a fly? Well, when you compress and compress clouds they become harder and harder until you’ve got something so hard it could put the Samoan Spike on Hulk Hogen. When we pack and pack and pack ourselves full of God we’ll find that those things that were filling us up get pushed out the windows, the doors and even the walls. Nothing can stand in the way of God completely filling our heart. No sin can stand it’s ground against a tightly compressed God Fog creeping up on it.
So how do you and I fill ourselves with God? Living in community with the church. Praying. Reading the Bible. Following His commandments. It’s a daily thing and there are no short cuts.
So let’s get to it and get ourselves some God Fog.

Lord, thank you for coming into my heart and making me your home. Help me to fill every square inch of my heart with you and then help me to keep packing you in till theres no room for anything else. Show me the areas in my life where I am not letting you in and give me the strength to clear them out for you.

Thanks for, once again, putting the Word in an understandable, applicable way. You’re simple yet profound way of making the messages of the Bible easy to grasp is refreshing. I am starting to fill up with God. I want Him to squeeze out the sin and complacency. I want to use all the time He has given me to love the body and witness to the lost. Have a filling up day !
